Juvederm is an injectable facial filler, is used to soften deep folds and reduce wrinkles in the faces of patients. The substance is largely hyaluronic acid, a substance normally found in the skin, muscles, and tendons of mammels and was approved by the FDA in 2006. Juvederm is used as a filler in several places around the face including the lips, “smile lines”, filling in hollow places and even in scar treatment. With time, exposure to the sun and other elements, skin components break down. The skin loses its elasticity, structure and volume so unwelcomed lines and wrinkles appear. The appearance of wrinkles and facial folds can now be fixed and smoothed by adding structure and volume underneath and bringing sunken skin back up to the surface. For the best results you will need to get Juvederm injected every 8-12 months, as it is naturally absorbed by the body. If you decide to stop the Juvederm treatments your skin will go back to its origional state. Here at Davis Plastic Surgery we are big fans of Juvederm and love the natural and youthful results it produces.
